MEET OUR PASTOR
Rev. Dr. Lisa Sykes Chilton
Lisa Sykes Chilton originates from Dayton, Tennessee, but was raised in Berlin & Heidelberg, Germany and Newport News, Virginia. She is the Mother of three adult daughters and the Grandmother of 6. She lives in Lynchburg, Virginia, where she has resided for the last 30+ years.
Ministry
Rev. Dr. Chilton accepted her call to ministry in November of 2009. She preached her initial sermon in March of 2010. Her subject was, “I gave you the keys to the Kingdom, so why are you still standing out here?” She was ordained in April 2014. She was an Associate Minister of the Bolling Hill Baptist Church in Madison Heights, VA, until founding this ministry, where Rev. Edward D. Jones Sr. was her Beloved Pastor until his recent passing. July of 2013 she accepted her divine assignment to pastor The Hood Church, mandated to teach the good news of the Kingdom of God to a generation of young people using interactive multimedia ministry methodologies. She is passionate about leading young adults to Christ and counts it a privilege to be called “a minister of the Most High God" at no charge to the Kingdom.
Education
She earned an Associate Degree in Management from Central VA Community College, Lynchburg, VA with a GPA of 3.94 and her Bachelor’s Degree in 2004 with a 4.0 GPA in Business Administration from Franklin University, Columbus, OH. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in both instances. She was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and received the Dr. Johnnie Merritt Award of Academic Excellence. She was also named the Management Student of the Year. She has been named to the National Dean’s List multiple years. She graduated from Lynchburg College’s Graduate School of Business and Economics in 2010 with a Master of Business Administration degree with a GPA of 3.3. Finally, in 2016 she completed the Doctor of Ministry Degree from Virginia University of Lynchburg’s School of Religion with a 3.67 GPA.

The vision of New Revolution Urban Ministries is to provide a safe and nonjudgmental ministry to the youth and young adults of Lynchburg, Virginia that provides interactive, dynamic and relatable dialogue and teaching methods.
Church Mission
To create a paradigm shift in the lives of urban youth and young adults in Lynchburg, Virginia, into Kingdom citizens using a Christ centered approach for spiritual, socio-economic and educational development and growth.
What we believe
We believe in Jesus Christ, who is the son of the living God, Jehovah! We believe He was sent into the world for the forgiveness of our sins that we might escape the judgment that is coming upon the whole earth and sacrificed His life that we might be cleansed by His blood. We believe He died on the cross, was buried in a borrowed tomb and was raised from the dead on the third day. We believe in the Baptism in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, which is the name of Jesus. We believe Jesus sent the gift of His Spirit on the day of Pentecost to live in us, that we might be in Him and He in us! We believe He is coming back again for his church, all believers in Jesus Christ, to be with Him for eternity, whether in Heaven or here on Earth. He came to give us life and that more abundantly!

The name of the church was changed to New Revolution Urban Ministries. The Hood Church Inc. is the corporation that holds the for profit arm, holding company and community development organization of the church.
